Gather youth wisdom to create and lead automobile future. The final round and awards ceremony of the second “Dongfeng Dream Car” China Automobile Design Competition Among Youngsters was held in Hubei Wuhan Dongfeng Motor Corporation’s headquarters on November 23^rd, 2016. After fierce competition, one “Dongfeng Dream Car” grand prize and three individual awards were eventually given. Entry “Capsule” by Team DL from Guizhou University stood out and won the “Dongfeng Dream Car” grand prize.

“Dongfeng Dream Car” Competition aims to build a platform of development and exchange for a new generation of young Chinese car designers. When creating their entry, competitors expressed their creative connotation of the “Dongfeng Dream Car” and revealed their wild imagination of the future automobile society. The theme of the second “Dongfeng Dream Car” Competition was “Auto life nurturing future”. Focusing on concepts of harmonious development among people, automobile and society, it highlighted sustainable, eco-friendly, Sci-tech and smart designs and motivated today’s young people to develop their own unique understanding of and creative enthusiasm about people, automobile and society. Officially launched on June 20^th, the competition attracted 81 teams from 58 universities and colleges, and altogether received 146 entries regarding creative automobile design, automobile societal relation, and automobile life vision. After preliminary and intermediary rounds, ten entries were selected and made to the final round.

During the final round, the top ten teams thoroughly presented the creative ideas and highlights of their entries through video demonstration and PowerPoint presentation; competing teams and a panel of final-round judges formed by external experts and representatives from five Dongfeng technical centers conducted brilliant Q&As and exchanges, creating frequent highlights on the competition site.

Undergoing fierce competition, entry “Capsule” by Team DL from Guizhou University won the “Dongfeng Dream Car” grand prize, for its overall unique composition which, through personal cockpit on multiple autopilot mobility platforms, realized “one-stop” mobility in relation to public means of transportation, individual means of transportation and even architectural structure.

In addition, entry “H allroad” by Team Haier Brothers from Wuhan Huaxia University of Technology won “Best Harmonious Life Award”; entry “EXTREME CONCEPT” by Team Fourth Wall jointly formed by students from Hongik University (Korea), Istituto Europeo di Design and East China University of Science and Technology won “Best Intelligent Transport Award”; entry “Shadowing Levitation Vehicle” by Team ASV from Hubei University of Technology won “Best Model Creation Award”. “Top Ten Excellent Entry Award” was given to competing teams including Rookies, Lingdong Design, Amigo Design, lyylh, since 1991, and LIM.
