ICOMOS-WRCSBH, established on November 16, 2013, is currently the only designated professional scientific committee branch set up in China by ICOMOS Scientific Committee, which is supported by ICOMOS headquarters. As a research institution established by CITIC General Institute of Architectural Design and Research, School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan Research Institute on Shared Built Heritage, ICOMOS-WRCSBH is dedicated to the research and practice of cultural heritage protection. ICOMOS-WRCSBH aims to explore the potential and value of Wuhan's urban heritage through international vision and scientific means, and to create a platform for exchanges and cooperation among governments, enterprises and institutions, universities and non-governmental organizations to develop Wuhan as the highland of production, learning and research of cultural heritage in the Asia-Pacific region. Meanwhile, as an important promoter of cultural heritage education in the region, ICOMOS-WRCSBH is successfully qualified as "UNESCO Industrial Heritage Chair” together with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, CITIC General Institute of Architectural Design and Research and ICOMOS Scientific Committee on Shared Built Heritage.
