December 30, 2015, the opening ceremony of Chinese and Maldives Friendship Bridge was held in Malé, the capital of Maldives. The bridge was the first one in Maldives, which was sponsored by Chinese government. The bridge will be opened in 2018. Yameen, the president of Maldives said this bridge would alter the situation of Maldives.
