Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute (CSEPDI) of China Power Engineering Consulting Group Corporation, located on Minzhu Road, Wuchang, Wuhan, and founded in 1954 under China Power Engineering Consulting Group Corporation, is a domestic well-known enterprise with abundant comprehensive strength in power design and EPC contracting.
        CSEPDI boasts Class A engineering design comprehensive qualification(including EPC contracting and project management) and Class A qualifications for comprehensive engineering survey, engineering consultation, cost consultation, environmental impact assessment, preparation of water & soil conservation schemes for construction projects, projects tendering agency, geological disaster control engineering, geological disaster fatalness evaluation and mapping and pressure pipe design permit certificate, together with operation qualification certificates for contracting overseas projects and certificate for high-tech enterprise. In 1996, CSEPDI passed the ISO9001 Quality Management System Certification and had been awarded certificates of the Quality Management System（GB/T 19001 idt ISO 9001）, Environmental Management System（GB/T 24001 idt ISO 14001） and Occupational Health & Safety Management System(GB/T 28001) in 2006.
        Ever since 1993, CSEPDI has consecutively been listed among TOP100 enterprises for comprehensive investigation and design capacity in China. In addition, CSEPDI has been awarded Best Civilized Units in Hubei Province for consecutively nine times since 1995 and chosen in the Ranking List of TOP60 Design Companies in China by US Engineering News Record (“ENR”) for consecutively 10 years.         As a knowledge-intensive enterprise, CSEPDI boasts abundant talent resource, and a high-leveled , high-quality, reasonably structured team, covering the field of survey, design, EPC, environmental protection, as well as IT and software, and etc. Presently, it has 1661 employees, including 1 national-level design masters, 14 experts entitled to the Special Allowance of the State Council, 137 professor-level senior engineers, 632 senior engineers, 421 engineers, 215 assistant engineer and 360 public chartered professionals. 
        CSEPDI boasts advanced computer software and hardware, which meet the requirements of the enterprise. It has established a safe, stable and fast network covering all the work places with gigabit optical fiber as the backbone and exchanged to each computer in 100MB. Over 1400 microcomputers and 850 laptops have been equipped to the staff. The software of analysis, 3-D design and 2-D mapping cover most of the relevant engineering fields of system planning, power generation, power transformation, as well as power transformation and etc. The system of comprehensive management has been developed to cover management on human resource, plan and statistics, marketing, archives, quality and technology management, as well as OA office automation and etc. To meet the requirement of undertaking EPC project, the project management system has been established to take control of the progress, cost, procurement, construction, contract, archives and etc. for the on-going projects. 

        Furthermore, CSEPDI is equipped with global positioning system (GPS), digital photogrammetry system as well as advanced instruments, equipments and technologies for engineering environment impact test, engineering geology, printing and publication.

        Over the past six decades, CSEPDI has designed power generation, power transmission and transformation projects in 29 provinces, cities and autonomous regions and more than 30 countries. By the end of 2013, CSEPDI had designed over 200 power generation projects that were put into operation totaling over 79740 MW capacity, including five 1000 MW units, twenty-nine 600 MW units, and ninety-seven 300 MW units. Over 210 power transformation projects designed by CSEPDI had been put into operation totaling over 152.36 million KVA, including 106 power transformation projects above 500KV. It had also designed over 310 power transmission projects totaling over 37,366km in length, including 30,719km of line above 500kV.

        Following the quality ideology of “quality being the cornerstone of our future”, CSEPDI keeps pursuing excellence in projects, actively advocates optimized design and quota design, seeks for greater perfection and has harvested countless fruits. As the main design unit, the “ultra-high voltage AC transmission key technology, packaged equipments and its project application” has been awarded the “Special Price of the National Award for Science and Technology Progress”. Mr. Peng Kaijun, the general manager of CSEPDI’s power grid engineering company, has been honored as one of the 50 main engineers. As the main project engineering unit, the “independent technology development of high voltage DC transmission project packaged design and its project application” has won the “First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress”. Besides, CSEPDI’s engineering survey and design have been awarded 24 national high-quality engineering design prizes (including 11 gold prizes), 7 national excellent engineering survey prizes, 24 national excellent engineering prizes, 38 national-level engineering consultation prizes, 4 national excellent EPC contracting prizes; its CAD software and MIS software have been awarded 23 national excellent engineering design software prizes; and its QC team has been awarded 17 national excellent QC team prizes and 26 national excellent QC team prizes for project construction. In addition, CSEPDI has 234 patents (including 9 patents for invention) and 31 know-how.

It also ranks advanced level in China for high-parameter large-capacity power station, air-cooling power station, clean coal power generation, gas-steam combined cycle design and environmental assessment of power engineering etc. Moreover, CSEPDI is equipped with adequate technical storage with great achievements made in the areas of nuclear power conventional island, wind power generation, biomass electricity generation and waste-to-energy station, etc. In addition, it vigorously promotes the digital three-dimensional design and establishes integration design and management system to realize collaborative work and resource sharing.
